The ISA Level 1 Flatwater SUP Instructor course equips the instructor to introduce the Beginner SUP Paddler to the sport of Stand Up Paddling. It is specific to the Flatwater and covers the core skills that an instructor will need to understand and be competent with to effectively and successful teach new paddlers the basic SUP skills.
It is a 2 day course that includes theory and practical components with sport specific and importantly safety and risk management content.
After the course, there are a required 20 hours of practical teaching that need to be done with an ISA designated Supervisory Instructor.
Once the ISA Level 1 Flatwater SUP Instructor qualification has been gained, the SUP Instructor is able to do either or both of the follow on options of the ISA Surf SUP Instructor or ISA Openwater SUP Instructor courses.
