After completing the 2 day ISA Level 1 Flatwater SUP Instructor Course and fulfilling all the requirements, the next step is to do either the ISA Surf SUP Instructor Course or the ISA Openwater SUP Instructor course.
The ISA Surf SUP Instructor course upskills Flatwater Instructors to be able to teach students in the surf in conditions of up to a maximum of 3ft. It details the core skills required and the knowledge required to effectively teach a SUP Paddler these new surf skills.
The ISA Openwater SUP Instructor course details information on the three disciplines of Marathon Racing, Technical Racing and Downwind Racing and the core skills for Instructors to know and understand to be able to teach participants in Openwater SUP Lessons.
Both courses are a days course including both practical and theory components, plus the required teaching under a Supervising Instructor. In the ISA Flatwater SUP Instructor Course, this requirement is 20 hours but the requirement for both of these courses is reduced to 10 hours.
